Let’s Be Winners

I’m going to be 32 years old in a few days. I am happy with where I am in life.

I am even more happy with where I am going. I am by no means as accomplished as I want to be BUT I’m 100% confident that I am on my way there. Everyday the will to WIN grows within me.

“Life cannot help but step aside for a man who is relentlessly obsessed.”

I’m hoping this attitude is contagious so I can pass it on to you.

One word that keeps popping into my head when I think of what it means to be a winner is the word “no.”

Now I explained in another article my position on boundaries but this isn’t that.

This is the power of “no.” The essence of “no.” The winners attitude through the use of “no.”

Not necessarily the use of the word no but a silent, inward rejection of things that don’t lead to winning.

If we want to have a winner’s attitude forged through discipline here’s what we have to do

Ignore The Naysayers

“People don’t want you doing better than them. “

The crowd is full of people who want nothing better for themselves. This is why you should probably ignore them. Just completely ignore them.

I’m not saying you should be a snob or anything of the sort. But you should be weary of giving your attention to these people.

You should also keep your plans to yourself. When you tell these people your plans, which are a vulnerable part of your being, you give them a pass to fortify it with negativity.

When you do this, you screw up your vibrational match to the goal you were mapping to with your plan.

People don’t want you doing better than them. This is just human nature. They lift themselves up by putting you down.

Ignore or stay away from these kinds of people all together. They will ruin your ability to be successful if you let them.

Stop consuming and start producing

“I want to add that NOT consuming anything allows for your own ideas to flourish.”

If you want to be a winner, you have to get into the mode of producing. This means producing for yourself in a sovereign fashion, not for a company.

I’m not saying to quit your job if you don’t need to but you are going to have to shift your mindset into that of a producer.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You may not know what you should be producing.

Start by doing research, what do people like to consume? What do people need? Does this align with your skills?

I remember the first time reading “Think and grow rich” by Napoleon Hill. It was also the first time it occurred to me that maybe one day I don’t have to depend on working for someone else for the rest of my life.

The portion of the book on “specialized knowledge” made me think

I can totally be a producer of something.”

That’s all it really takes, the belief in yourself to produce something of value.

Of course this would mean you would have to reduce or eliminate your consumption all together.

Stop consuming social media

One thing I notice the big shot winners do is they say “no” to consumption.

I heard the Silicon Valley tech wizards don’t consume social media or let their kids consume it either.

Gary Vaynerchuk, the guy that is bullish on social media says that he doesn’t consume content, he consumes the comments on social media which goes back to my point on market research.

These two examples show the type of mindset it takes to be a winner. When you are working on producing, you’re too busy to notice much less consume what others are producing.

I want to add that NOT consuming anything allows for your own ideas to flourish.

In order to be a winner, we have to focus on producing, not consuming.

Ignore the rough patches

“The scoreboard doesn’t matter until the clock strikes zero”

Gary Vaynerchuk

Completely disregard the hard times. I went through plenty of rough patches in my life that should have crippled me mentally but I ignored them.

I’m not sure if it is healthy but it sure does help with winning.

I have been through so much bullshit, as I’m sure many of you reading this has as well, over the past two years alone and I’ve repressed them for the most part and kept it pushing.

Life doesn’t stop because you do. Dwelling on the hard times doesn’t help you win, ignoring them does.

There is nothing you can do to control what happened to you. It is how you react that matters. When you fall, get your ass back up.

Find a plan and focus on executing that plan throughout the rough times in your life.

This is how I was able to win in the past. It is how I plan to win in the present and the future.

The score doesn’t matter right now. You can be down in the first half and come back in the 4th quarter.

It’s how you choose to live your life throughout that matters.

Abhor ignorance, always search for knowledge

Winners read.

I know I said that consumption is a no-no but not when it comes to books.

I am currently working on reading a book list that that CEOs of various big companies supposedly read. The point is to be able to garner the type of mindset and knowledge that this CEOs possess when it comes to success.

Reading books BY CEOs is even better. The idea behind reading, well at least for me, is to “download” the authors mind, standing on the shoulders of giants, as they say.

Books contain dense conscious material that when consumed, can be easily benefited from.

They say that the more knowledge you obtain, the larger the perimeter of your ignorance. I don’t believe that, I’ll take my chances with MORE knowledge.

Never quit, be obsessed.

Say no to quitting.

Obsession is the only thing that matters. Ask Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James. Obsession with their craft is the theme that runs through these three players.

Life cannot help but step aside for a man who is relentlessly obsessed.

Abhor the free lunch

Do not give up your ability to hunt.

When you accept the free lunch, handouts, etc your ASKING to become domesticated.

You want to be in your natural element of hustle and grind. You want that fire lit under your ass that spurs you into a flurry of concentrated activity.

When you allow someone to just give you everything you are asking to be enslaved. You will not be able to go out there and get it for yourself.

This breeds comfort. Comfort makes you stay still. Staying still means life passes you by.

Let’s choose to be winners.

Aren’t you fed up with the way things are currently in your immediate circumstances?

Until next time.
