Yet another year of life.
Are you thankful? Are you grateful for yet another year to push to be greater than you were last year?
If you’re not then it’s ok.
We live in a society that seems to be heavily focused on self improvement and personal development.
The part the personal development community doesn’t emphasize is the time for simple self reflection. A period of time where you just reflect.
It doesn’t mean you’re not striving. You’re still striving but this form of striving is focused inward.
Think of it as a re-calibration of sorts.
You need not constantly be setting goals.
Here’s the problem with constant goal setting. One who constantly sets goals doesn’t stop long enough to smells the flowers.
One who cannot be happy where they are are emitting a vibration of lack or ceding to the universe that you are not currently good enough.
I see this in the most accomplished people. When does it end?
It is ok to sit for a awhile and reflect. Just to be in the present moment.
When you sit long enough you will he spurred into taking inspired action.
The beauty of inspired action is that it is not forced. It is not something you feel you HAVE to do for the sake of doing it.
It is something that pulls you. It says:
“Come take a look at this. Let’s take a stroll.”
That is the kind of action you should be striving for.
And this action is dwarfed by watching others striving in whatever way they choose.
On the flip side, if striving and putting the pedal to the metal resonates with you, do that. I’m all for it.
One of the Taos main tenets is that there is a time and place for everything.
There is a time for relaxing and a time for striving.
A time for being ahead and a time for being behind.
There is a time to lead and a time to follow.
A time to sow and a time to reap.
So if the New Year is your season to do your sowing, by all means go ahead. Set those goals and keep the chains moving.
The problem with not setting enough goals is that one can stay stagnant. This can lead to gross loss of traction in life or at least that’s how it can feel.
One things for sure, moving forward, allow yourself to put your focus into the present moment.
Everything you will ever need is in the here and now. It is where all energy can be found. It is where all inspiration resides.
Live each moment as if it were the most delicious meal you’ve ever had.
Focussing on the past or the future is like eating a meal and thinking about the one you had yesterday and the meal you’re going to have tomorrow, respectively.
Chew your food mindfully(focus in the present) and you will be just fine.
